Site of the pivotal Civil War battle from which the park gets its name, Pea Ridge National Military Park commemorates the victories and losses from this decisive two-day fight. Waged on March 7th and 8th, 1862, the battle was over the rights to claim Missouri as a state either for the Union or for the Confederacy. After Union forces won the fight, numerous victories for the North helped force the Confederacy into defeat and, ultimately, surrender. Today, miles of paved roads for vehicles and hiking trails let visitors explore the site, one of the best preserved Civil War sites in existence, and the visitor center contains a number of exhibits and artifacts from the war. It's an 11 mile drive to the park from the nearest large town, Rogers, and the park is very close to the Missouri border and its Mark Twain National Forest.
Open daily 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Entry fee (7 day pass): Adults $5; Children 15 and under are free.
